New Job

I know that I haven't written in a while and it's just because the last couple of weeks have been a little crazy.  After nearly 10 years at the same company I handed in my resignation about a month ago and have started a new job since...Monday to be exact.  It is a completely new career change but I'm very excited about it.  I still haven't done much but I know that alot of jobs start off very slow in the beginning.  I can't wait to get started.  One of the best things about this new job (besides the fact that I'm making more money) is that now I'm only 8 miles from my house. YAY!!!! I was 30 miles from my house before but it took me a whole hour to get to work.  Now even with traffic it only takes about 20 minutes.  With the price of gas...I am loving this!!!

It's not my birthday...

Villager mesa red

so why did I go buy myself this Vera Bradley bag???

I had to do it...I swear.  This particular pattern, which is called Mesa Red, is being retired.  Not only do I like this pattern and have had my eye on it for a while now but everything in this pattern was on sale.  How can I pass that up? I went to the store and my biggest problem was trying to pick out the style.  I already have a Villager that I bought myself a couple of years ago, which I love.  And just recently I bought my sister one for her birthday, I really think she likes it too. I have even bought my mother a Vera Bradley bag (I bought her a different style).  Finally I  decided to just stick with the Villager... it's one of the best bags.  Very roomy and I absolutely love the six pockets it has inside.  It's a great bag.  I totally recommend this bag : )

Mother's Day

Betsy yellow bird

For Mother's Day I decided to get my mom a Vera Bradley bag, this pattern is called yellow bird in the Betsy style.  It's been my signiture present lately....LOL.  Not that long ago I gave my sister one for her birthday and I figured that my mom would like one too.  She needed a new purse so I thought this was the perfect opportunity.  I really hope she likes it.

pictures

Camera OK so ever since Ayla's 1st Birthday I've been trying to get her 1 year pictures taken.  I don't know but I don't think it's meant to be.  The first weekend as I had told everyone Ayla was sick.  The following week she still was not feeling good and her face was very red just from being sick and drooling alot (still teething like crazy) .  The third week a kid bit her face in daycare (yeah that happened, can you believe it?) so you can just imagine.  The weekend after we weren't home most of the weekend.  So this last Sunday (May 4th) I thought OK finally we can get this done.  I mean we're approaching her being 13 month now.  Well, lets just say it didn't happen....AGAIN.  We were actually right down the street from Babies R Us (Kiddie Kandid)  when I turned to look at Ayla (because I heard something weird) and she had thrown up.  CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?  I felt so bad because she didn't look too good.  I didn't even realize she wasn't feeling good.  She was really quiet most of the morning but looked OK.  This was a totally surprise.  So of course we turned right around and went back home.  Ayla apparently had some kind of stomach virus and even until now is not 100%.....but the plan is to take her on Saturday.  Wish me luck.

signing

Sign_language A couple of weeks ago I noticed that Ayla was making some  hand gestures that looked to me to be sign language but I wasn't sure.  So finally I looked it up online and sure enough she was saying "more" to us.  My husband also confirmed it at the daycare that they are in fact teaching the kids sign language.  I couldn't be happier, I think that it's a wonderful thing.  I actually had attempted showing her some sign language DVDs a couple of months ago but she really didn't pay much attention to them, but I think I'm going to try them again.  I have also been trying to learn a few words here and there.  There are a few good sites that actually have snippets of video with either an adult or a child doing a particular sign.  This is how I discovered Ayla saying "please" when I was warming up her bottle in the microwave.

Ayla_on_her_swing

For Ayla's birthday we decided to give her this mini swing set.  Isn't it cute?  Just the right size for Ayla.

I really think she likes it!!!

Happy Birthday!!!

Wii

Happy Birthday to my Honey!!!  This morning I gave him his birthday present......The Wii.  He was really surprised which I was happy about since it's hard to surprise him.  I can't believe how hard it still is to get this damn thing.  I think I just got lucky finding it.  It only took me a couple of days.  But I do think it's going to be worth the struggle of finding it because I hear nothing but good things about it.  Personally I've never played it but I'm excited to try it out later on tonight.

poor baby

Baby_crying It's been a little over a week since Ayla has been to her 1 year doctor's appointment.  Like usual they checked her weight and height and she got 3 shots.  During th visit the doctor told us that we could start giving her whole milk.  We were very excited because right now the "special" formula that Ayla is on is very expensive.

So we got home and tried to give her the milk.  She made the funniest face.  Obviously this was not going to be easy, she did not like it and since she was hungry at that moment and really wanted that bottle she started wailing.   We had to do the old 1/2 and 1/2 to try and ease her into it.  Everything seem to be fine but then one night she woke up miserable and crying out in pain, we couldn't comfort her at all.  For days she was not a very happy baby and several night in a row she woke up miserable and in what seemed to be pain.  It's was so hard at that point to pinpoint what the problem was.   Was it the milk?  The shots? Teething? Also she happened to have a cold, could it have been that?  Everything is a guessing game since she can't communicate and tell us what is wrong.  Well we took her to the doctor and what he said was that she could be irritable still from the shots or that she may be having a reaction to the milk.  He also said that he did see that she had teeth coming in.  So basically he couldn't really tell us so we had to wait it out.

Days have passed and  now she seems to be over her cold and it's been over a week since her shots.  I'm happy to say that she seems to be feeling much better.  She's slept through the night the last couple of nights and she seems to be the happy little girl that I'm use to seeing everyday.  I'm so glad she is feeling better.

Happy 1st Birthday Ayla!!!!

Ayla_1st_bday_party_2

It was a nice and very crazy weekend.  Saturday was Ayla's Birthday Party.  Unfortunately Ayla started getting sick Thursday night and stayed home from daycare on Friday with the hopes that she would sleep and rest up all day at home so she would be ok for the party on Saturday.  Well everything seemed to be going as planned.  Friday most of the day Ayla slept alot and had not thrown up at all since Thursday night but right in the middle of her party  she threw up.  I thought that she was feeling better after that but after the party she threw up again......and get this.........so did I.  I guess being home with her all day Friday I caught whatever it was that she had.  But even though all of that happened the party was really nice.  The one disappointment was that I was not able to have Ayla wear her Party Dress, it was WAY too big on her.  I guess I'll save it for another day.

Yesterday....Ayla's actual birthday, was an easy going day.  Both Ayla and I weren't 100%, so we just hung around the house and took naps........LOL.  The plan was to take her to get her 1 year pictures but we wanted her to feel better.  So we'll be going next weekend.  Oh well not everything can go as planned.
